The PCC‑300 3 Switch Combiner Controller is a purpose‑engineered RF switch control platform for high‑power radio and television transmitter systems that employ hybrid power combiners. In modern dual‑cabinet transmitter architectures, maintaining on‑air continuity while servicing or repairing a final amplifier cabinet is critical. The PCC-300 enables this by precisely controlling motorized RF switches that either route combined power to the antenna or bypass the combiner entirely, placing a single transmitter cabinet directly on-air while the other is safely routed to a test load.
Supporting up to three motorized RF switches, the PCC‑300 centrally manages all switch movement logic and interlocks. Each switch operation is protected by coordinated interlock open and close control, ensuring RF-safe transitions and compatibility with existing transmitter interlock schemes. This approach reduces operator error, protects expensive RF hardware, and supports predictable, repeatable switching during both routine operation and fault recovery.
The controller supports four standard operating modes commonly used in combined transmitter systems: combined Transmitters A and B to air; Transmitter A to air with Transmitter B to test load; Transmitter B to air with Transmitter A to test load; and combined Transmitters A and B to test load. These modes are accessible via front‑panel controls, GPIO interfaces, Ethernet control, or SNMP commands, allowing seamless integration into both legacy and modern control environments.
For remote monitoring and control, the PCC‑300 includes an integrated Ethernet interface operating as an SNMPv2 agent, with a supplied MIB for use with station remote control systems and third‑party network management software. Broadcast Devices also provides a Windows‑based graphical user interface for system setup, configuration, and real‑time visualization of switch status, interlocks, and operating mode. This combination of SNMP and GUI access makes the PCC‑300 equally well suited for broadcast plant engineers and transmitter OEMs designing integrated control solutions.
Packaged in a compact one-rack-unit, 19-inch EIA rack-mounted enclosure, the PCC-300 is designed for transmitter cabinets, RF control rooms, and OEM system racks. With a wide AC input range, support for industrial operating temperatures, and optional redundant power capability, it meets the reliability expectations of continuous broadcast transmission facilities. The result is a modern, standards‑based RF switch controller that simplifies complex combiner operations while protecting critical RF infrastructure.
